Female Candidates in the Vernacular Examination.



THE last issue of the Government Gazette of the United Provinces contains the full list of the successful candidates in the Vernacular Final Examination. We are pleased to see in this list the names of 85 girl candidates, of whom 4 are Moslem girls from the Native State of Bhopal. Of the remaining 81, by far the largest number, viz., 72 are Hindus are well represented, but the Kayesthas take the lead in the emancipation of the women and the conservative class of Brahmans follow their lead. We also note that 13 Hindu girls and 2 Moslem girls have distinguished themselves in mathematics.
