Mr. Mitra on Indian Moslems.

Writing  to the New York Nation on the subject of the Hindu University Mr. S.M. Mitra observes that the project of the Moslem University "bristles with difficulties." Among others he mentions "the fact that whereas all Hindus barring a very few in French and Portuguese territory in India, are British subjects, a Moslem professor or a Moslem student may at any time become an alien enemy as the Turks are just now. But Moslem leaders hope to find a solution for this and other knotty problems." If the reference is to Indian Moslems, Mr. Mitra, it is needless to mention, has done great injustice to our fellow countrymen who profess Islam. There is certainly no reason for the assumption that a Moslem who is an Indian by birth and training "may at any time become an alien enemy." The argument ridiculous. Is it contended in England that an Irishman who is a Roman Catholic "may at any time become an alien enemy"?
