Prohibition of Liquor at Fair

IN reply to a telegraphic representation by the Amritsar Temperance Society to Mr. Hamilton, Deputy Commissioner of Gujranwala, on the subject, the Society has been informed that sale of liquor at Wazirabad has been prohibited at five fairs, including the Baisakhi. The measure of prohibiting the sale of liquor at important fairs like Diwali and Baisakhi has been fraught with such far-reaching results to the cause of law and order that its extension elsewhere must be welcomed.
