CROP telegrams for the week ending 28th August report good rainfall throughout the country except in the Punjab, Rajputana, North-West Frontier and Kashmir, where more rain is urgently needed. Rice crops in Kashmir are fair but other crops are bad. Unirrigated crops in the Punjab are suffering severely from want from and are in some tracts reported as withering. In Jaipur and Tonk in Rajputana autumn crops are beginning to fail. Prices of wheat are Ambala, Ferozpore and Lahore 8 1/2 , Lyalpur 9, and Rawalpindi 9 ½ seers per rupee.
