THE INDUSTRIES COMMISSION

THERE is a lack of enthusiasm in the evidence given before the Industries Commission in Lahore. It is probably due to the fact that we have really few experts with a thorough knowledge of the province and the people and that a great deal of information on essential points has already been obtained by the Commission. There is very little to add in the Punjab to the information on already collected and furnished by officials and non-officials. It is not for any lack of information or of opinions that Government has not adopted any forward policy to promote industries. It is for other reasons which no amount of evidence-recording would bring out in a manner satisfactory to all. The written evidence furnished by the Director of Industries, Punjab, explains the narrow outlook of the present Government.
