AT a sitting of the Legislative Council His Honour the Lieutenant-Governor in closing the budget discussion gave a comprehensive review of the financial, agricultural, economic and political conditions in the province. His Honour shared the satisfaction expressed by several Hon’ble members over the financial results and said it was wise to have a big balance. The chief gainers in the financial improvement were the Public Works Department, Roads and Buildings branch and the Agricultural Department. His Honour referred to His Excellency the Viceroy’s opinion that the Punjab was primus in Indes and explained the several stages of action in connection with agriculture and the measures being adopted to improve the existing methods of agriculture.
