The Lyallpur Agricultural College

WITH reference to the remark we made in our issue of the 26th instant as regards the withdrawal of the restrictions placed on the admission of students to the Lyallpur Agricultural College we are informed that there are no restrictions properly called as such and that the necessary qualifications for admission are the Entrance Examination of the Punjab University or the Diploma of the Aitcheson College. Candidates for admission must be under 21 years of age on the 1st May preceding the term and a preference is given to applicants of Zamindar parents. However, the Director of Agriculture admits any candidate even if he does not fulfil all the above qualifications if he considers him in other ways suitable and if his knowledge is sufficient to enable him to assimilate the College training. We expressed a doubt whether the students passing through the first part of the course possess equipment in general education to help them to profit from lectures on the higher branches of study.
