Water Supply and Disease.

AN interesting discussion took place at the Bombay Corporation the other day regarding the alleged impurity of the water supply and the disease that were caused by it. Quite a scare was caused by the allegations published by one of the members who asked for a thorough investigation. But in the course of the discussion, it was found that the health officer said that the health of the city was not affected by such impurities that existed in the water supply. In this connection Major Glen Liston made a valuable statement which is useful to us in Lahore and in other Punjab cities where there is no continuous supply of water. After pointing out how water-borne disease were caused more from accidental contamination than from want of proper filtration of water, Major Liston said the experience of large cities showed that epidemics had been caused more from accidental contamination than from want of proper filtration of water.
