Water Supply of Multan

THE scourge of plague which afflicted Multan during the last season, and the general demands of sanitation seem to have given a rise to a movement in favour of a scheme of water supply in the town.

THE scourge of plague which afflicted Multan during the last season, and the general demands of sanitation seem to have given a rise to a movement in favour of a scheme of water supply in the town. It is intended to approach the Local Government which a request in that behalf. We are told that such a scheme was actually the subject of consideration in the time of Mr. Kitchin, Deputy Commissioner, and that not only was sanction accorded by the Local Government but that on the occasion of one of his visits Sir Louis Dane inspected and approved of a site for sinking wells near the old fort, and that some wells near the old fort, and that some wells were constructed, which gave a good water supply. The scheme, for some reason or other, was then abruptly abandoned. We are not aware how far these details are correct, but the Government can easily verify them.
