App Name: Indane

OS: Android, iOS

Features: Indane is the official mobile application of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, which gives access to user’s account on his/her mobile phone. Facilities like cylinder booking, hot-plate repair, booking history, preferred delivery time, DBC booking, distributor locator, change distributor, etc. can be availed of using this app.

Pros/Cons: Very useful for consumers of Indane but a consumer needs to have an email id to make use of this app.

App Name: IndianRailInfo

OS: iOS, Android

Features: The app allows users to fetch transit-related information about Indian railways. The app supports features like PNR enquiry and train’s running status. Using this app, one can plan the trip, find seat availability, fare and train timings.

Pros/Cons: This app is a boon for all those who commute by trains on a regular basis.

App Name: makemytrip

OS: iOS, Android

Features: MakeMyTrip is a well known travel booking site already and the app just extends the features of this site to handheld devices too. It allows users to search and book flights in a convenient manner. Features include view-booking details, cancel existing flights, request e-tickets and track refunds. Besides flight bookings, bus reservations and hotel bookings can also be done using this app.

Pros/Cons: User-friendly interface is a great advantage of this app. Other information besides planning the trip is an added bonus, for instance, nearby restaurants based on user’s location service.

App Name: Zomato

OS: iOS, Android

Features: A great app, which helps the user in locating great places to eat. One can browse through the menu, pictures and user reviews to decide on what to eat and where to eat. The map feature, along with the chosen place, helps to find exact directions. One can bookmark ones favourite eating joints for later reference or for suggesting to family and friends.

Pros/Cons: The app lets one search menus across 12,000 restaurants in India, spanning seven cities — Delhi, NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Chennai & Hyderabad. It will be great if more cities are catered to by this app.
