Over 200 traders renewed labour cards during a camp held under the aegis of Mussoorie Traders Association in presence of Labour Department officials in Mussoorie today.

President of the Mussoorie Traders Association Rajat Agarwal said, “The labour cards are issued by the department once in five years under the Shop and Establishment Act to ensure labour laws compliance by the license holding business units in the town.”

He said over 200 cards were renewed today and several new traders also applied for the cards.

Labour Enforcement Officer Ashutosh Gairola said under the Act, it was mandatory to be registered under the Labour Enforcement Department. A commercial establishment having more than one employee should maintain attendance, pay and leave register. “The department will conduct surprise checks to ensure that the commercial units registered are maintaining all the records,” he said.
