AAP not to align with any political party: Vivek Yadav

Senior AAP leader and state party in charge Vivek Yadav said the party had reiterated its stand of not to ally with any political party anywhere in the country.

Yadav was addressing mediapersons on the sidelines of the party convention held here today. He said it was wrong to assume that by sharing a platform with Nitish Kumar in Bihar recently, AAP had entered into some sort of agreement with the JD (U) in the Bihar Assembly elections.

“It was a government programme where Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Nitish shared a platform and it was nothing more than that,” Yadav said.

He said AAP would contest all 70 Assembly seats in the state in the 2017 Assembly elections. The party was hopeful of winning more than 35 Assembly seats in the state.

Earlier, addressing the party convention, Yadav called upon party workers to be fully prepared for the Assembly elections. He said after Punjab, Uttarakhand was the third most important state for AAP.

Delhi cantt AAP MLA commando Surendra Singh said both BJP and Congress had befooled the people of the state and AAP was fast emerging as an effective alternative to them. He said natives of the state living in Delhi had played an important role in forming the AAP government in Delhi.

He accused the Central Government of diluting the provisions of the one-rank, one-pension scheme and thus, cheating ex-servicemen.

Senior AAP leader Anoop Nautiyal said Uttarakhand had been witnessing rampant corruption since the day it was carved out. He said successive governments had been neck deep in corruption.

Nautiyal said people of Uttarakhand were looking up to AAP with much hope in this corruption-ridden state. The party already had a team of large number of active volunteers, which was its big strength in the state.

A large number of AAP workers from different parts of Dehradun attended the convention.
