MUSSOORIE: Ashutosh Pokhriyal of Genius School, Purola, topped the district in the Class X Uttarakhand board examinations, the results of which were announced in Uttarkashi today.

Ashutosh Pokhriyal of Genius School, Purola, topped the district in the Class X Uttarakhand board examinations, the results of which were announced in Uttarkashi today. He also stood ninth in the state merit list. Anup Ramola of Goswami Ganesh Dutt Vidya Mandir Inter College topped the district in Class XII examinations and stood 13th in the state.

Other district topper from the same school was Rajat, who stood second in the district and 17th in the state merit list. Ashlesha Thapliyal from Birla Inter-College stood third in the district and 21st in the state merit list in Class XII.

In Class X, Devesh Rawat of SVM Purola stood 10th in the state merit list while Abhishek Panwar of SVM Chinyali Saud Inter-College stood 14th in the state merit list. Aruna Bangwal stood 15th in the state merit list while Durgesh Uniyal stood 17th, along with Durgesh Rana.

Mahatma Yogeshwar Saraswati Shishu Bal Vidya Mandir students posted excellent results in both Class X and XII examinations.

In Class X, Abhinav Shrivastava secured 93.4% and stood 17th in the state.

Other students from the school, Aman Kandari (85.2 per cent), Himanshu Rawat (82.2 per cent), Vanshika Bhandari (79.8 per cent) and Ritik Ramola (73.4 per cent) and stood second, third, fourth and fifth in the school.

The total pass percentage of the school in Class X was 97.4 per cent. As many as 79 students appeared for the examinations, out of which 77 students were declared pass while two were declared fail. Out of these, 39 students secured first division while 32 secured second division and six students secured third division.

In Class XII board examinations, Anuj Nautiyal secured 81.4 per cent marks and topped the school while Pankaj Pundir with 78.4 per cent marks, Kiran Shah with 73.8 per cent marks, Reshma with 72.4 per cent marks and Rajeev Panwar with 71.8 per cent marks stood second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Out of 44 students appearing in the class XII examinations, one student was declared fail, bringing the pass percentage to 93 per cent. Out of the 44 students who appeared in the examinations, 33 secured first division and eight students secured the second division.

Principal of the school Manoj Rayal said the teachers of the school were not paid handsome salaries as compared to English-medium and government schools but they considered providing education a noble service to the mankind and the country.

Mustakeem from Nirmala Inter College with 84% marks was also among the toppers of Mussoorie in Class X.

Nishi with 82 per cent and Geeta Chaudhry with 81 per cent stood second and third positions in the school.

In Class XII, Anjika Khan with 72 per cent marks stood first for Nirmala Inter College while Surendar with 67 per cent marks stood second and Priya with 65 per cent marks stood third.

Manjita and Diksha with 65 per cent marks topped the Sanatan Dharm Inter College while Usha and Priya with 63 per cent stood second and Gulraj with 62 per cent stood third for the school in Class XII board examinations. Anshik Aswal stood first in Class X with 75% marks while Ayushu Bhatt with 66% marks, Monika with 64 per cent, Manju Kairwan with 63 per cent and Nazia with 62 per cent marks stood second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the school.

Shivani from Mussoorie Inter College with 74 per cent marks stood first while Pooja Rawat with 68 per cent marks stood second in Class XII.

At St Lawrence High School, Ankita Kumari with 71.6 per cent topped the school while Rupesh Lal with 71.2 per cent marks and Shalini Nautiyal with 69.6 per cent marks stood second and third in the school.

Boy flunks examination, commits suicide

Dehradun: A Class X student committed suicide after he flunked the examination here on Wednesday. He has been identified as Kuldeep Rawat (19). His family members called police after they saw the body hanging in his room. The police have sent the body for postmortem.—TNS
