Former MP and BJP state spokesman Balraj Passi today cornered the Congress-led state government for its callous approach in not taking effective steps to rebuild damaged infrastructure in disaster-hit areas of the state, a-year-and-a-half since disaster struck the state.
He said a large number of villagers had migrated in absence of basic amenities in the state’s disaster-hit areas.
Addressing mediapersons at a press conference organised at the BJP state office here today, the spokesperson lamented that the Congress–led state government had completely failed on all fronts.
He expressed concern that basic amenities such as roads, potable water pipelines and health centres are in a poor state in disaster-hit areas.
After demanding from the state government issuance of a white paper on disaster, Passi said Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts were the worst-affected disaster-hit districts of the state. Passi demanded that the state government take concrete steps to revive tourism sector and take measures to rehabilitate villagers who faced the brunt of disaster.
He said the Congress-led state government should quash interest on loans taken by villagers hit by the disaster.
