Dehradun, March 19
The budget session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly at Bhararisain (Gairsain) from Tuesday is expected to be stormy with the Opposition all set to corner the TS Rawat-led government on a slew of issues.
The Assembly will go into session with a reduced strength of one, with the recent demise of BJP MLA Magan Lal Shah. The session will commence with the Governor’s Address, followed by obituary references.
On March 22, the government will lay the budget for 2018-2019. The session is likely to take place till March 28.
The Congress is likely to corner the BJP on the issues of Gairsain, loan waiver and “poor” financial management.
“We are going to raise all issues that are affecting the people of the state. They will have to come clean on the issue of Gairsain and tell people what the BJP thinks of its status. Despite having a BJP government at the Centre, the state has not been able to pay its employees,” said Indira Hridayesh, Leader of the Opposition.
Meanwhile, the police has tightened security around Gairsain. At least 1,500 cops will be deployed on the Adibadri-Bhararisain route.
Chief Minister TS Rawat, along with Cabinet ministers, on Monday left for Gairsain by road and inspected work on the Char Dham all-weather road.
