The Uttarakhand Cabinet, which met late this evening, approved several proposals, including bonus to farmers and an amendment to the mining policy.

Chief Secretary N Ravi Shankar, while addressing mediapersons after the Cabinet meeting, said in all 72 proposals had come up before the Cabinet.

However, no discussion was held on the much-awaited proposal pertaining to reservation for statehood activists.

During the winter session, the ruling Congress and the BJP had decided to frame a law for giving reservation to the activists who had participated in the creation of a separate state of Uttarakhand.

However, the Cabinet today approved the setting up of a committee that would frame rules under which the reservation policy would be governed.

Further, the Cabinet approved the setting up of sub-treasuries in the cities. This will facilitate the state government employees who will no longer have to go to the state capital and the district headquarters to draw their salaries.

It also approved bringing in an amendment to the mining policy and restructuring of the grade pay of home guards. The structuring of the grade pay of home guards is aimed at providing uniformity in the grade pay.
