Dehradun, March 19

The state government has withdrawn cases lodged against Labour Minister Harak Singh Rawat and former Congress MLA Surendra Singh Negi during the Assembly elections last year.

The cases were lodged after supporters of the BJP and the Congress clashed and created a ruckus at a police station. The police had to book the two leaders and their supporters.

According to senior officials, the local court has also given its consent to withdraw the cases against the leaders. Soon after taking over the reins of the state, Chief Minister TS Rawat had announced that his party would start proceedings for withdrawing cases of “political nature”.
