Chief Development Officer Ranjana today presided over a meeting held at Viaks Bhawan regarding the progress report of social welfare schemes being run in the district.

On the ‘Sansad Adarsh Gram’ scheme, Ranjana directed the officials concerned to start the projects by the first week of June and ensure time-bound completion of development projects and works under this scheme.

Village development, dairy, horticulture, agriculture, swajal, fishery, child welfare, health and other departmental officials were directed to complete detailed project reports by this month-end.

The CDO also directed health department officials to adhere to effective mediums likes street shows and other media tools to generate awareness about the ill effects of liquor and tobacco consumption.

Jal Nigam officials were directed to prepare a comprehensive plan to tackle waterlogging, particularly during monsoon season. Digitisation of all records and files would be made by the Food and Supplies Department and uploading of government schemes and other information on Internet through NIC.

The CDO also met SIDCUL industrial association office-bearers Harendra Garg and Sudhir Mehta regarding the facilities in SIDCUL. On attracting industries in SIDCUL, Haridwar, Ranjana said facilities like water, power and infrastructure would be provided and for this a special committee had been formed.

Ranjana also stressed that sewage treatment plants be made compulsory in all factories, prior to getting approval of their setting up.

“Connection for sewage treatment plant has now been made mandatory for all factories in SIDCUL. Action would be taken against factories that violate this rule. We have reduced connection charges in this regard. For 510 sq mtr revised charge is Rs 800, for 1,000 sq mtr it is Rs 1,100 and for 2,000 sq mtr, it stands at Rs 1,500 only. Drainage system, road cleaning and recarpeting would be done on a regular basis so that SIDCUL becomes an attractive destination for industries,” said Ranjana.
