CM, Bali Guv sign pact on health, tourism

DEHRADUN:Uttarakhand and Bali on Monday arrived at an agreement to cooperate in the area of health, tourism, environment and culture.

Uttarakhand and Bali on Monday arrived at an agreement to cooperate in the area of health, tourism, environment and culture.

A five-point letter of intent was signed by Governor of Bali Mangku Pastika and Uttarakhand Chief Minister TS Rawat. Governor of Bali, who is on a visit to Uttarakhand, had earlier visited the state in 2007 and 2014.

During the signing of the agreement, Pastika said both Uttarakhand and Bali had several things to offer to its people. “The agreement will bring us closer and open more avenues of cooperation,” he said. Mangku Pastika said that Bali was a majority Hindu state with 90 per cent of resident belonging to Hindu community. More than 5,000 people from Bali visit Haridwar and Rishikesh every year.  He said that Bali is an important tourist destination and 17,000 foreign tourists visit the country every day.

Chief Minister TS Rawat said Uttarakhand was keen on increased cooperation with the Indonesian island, especially in the sphere of tourism, culture and health.

Later, Pastika met Uttarakhand Governor Dr KK Paul and Uttarakhand Minister for Urban Development Madan Kaushik.
