Chief Minister Harish Rawat launched Blood Friends, a mobile phone app, to connect blood donors of the state at a function held here today. Harish Rawat said the mobile phone application would help in preparing a data base of blood donors.

The application introduced by Pearl Online Mobile Services Private Limited could be downloaded free of cost from the Google play store. Through the application, those looking for blood could send their request and it would send messages to the blood donors of the required group, facilitating donation of the required group of blood without hassles.

Suryakant Dhasmana, senior vice-president of the state Congress, said he had requested the Chief Minister a month ago for help in making such an application who promptly asked the company to go ahead. The application has been dedicated to the people of the state who are in dire need of blood.

Sumit Garg, Chairman of Pearl Online Services, said through the application, the blood donors and blood seekers could connect directly. A call centre for the purpose was also under active consideration of the state government as it could further help the people in need of blood, he added.
