Chief Minister Harish Rawat today reiterated his government’s commitment to work for the betterment of minority communities in the state.

The Chief Minister, who met representatives of the minority community here today, said the state government was making all efforts to make the minority communities a part of the development process of the state.

He said progress of minorities would ensure an overall development of the society.

The Chief Minister disclosed that the state government had recently allotted Rs 5 lakh for modernisation of Madrassas. Besides, the government was also making efforts towards appointment of Urdu teachers in the state.

He said the state Minority Finance Development Corporation would also be strengthened and their funds would also be increased. “Students from minority groups are given self-employment training under the skill development scheme. They will be provided with loan facility from the Minority Finance Development Corporation to enable them to start their own business,” he said.

The CM said their focus was on connecting minorities to employment. Meritorious students would also be given scholarship benefits, he added. Mohd Kasim, RA Khan and Sibtey Nabi were among the delegation that met the CM.
