A workshop organised by the Pharmacy Department of the Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Technology and Science (SGRRITS) in Dehradun has stressed on the sensitisation of society towards tuberculosis for ensuring timely treatment of the dreaded disease.
Dr Manjari Gharat of Community Pharmacy division, Mumbai, explained about the role of pharmacists in combating tuberculosis. “Besides doctors, the pharmacists play a significant role in the prevention and treatment of this disease,” Dr Gharat said.
The Dehradun District TB Officer, Dr Abhishek Das, talked about various programmes being run at the district level for the prevention of TB.
Former drug controller of Uttarakhand SK Majumdar said the role of pharmacists and chemists is very significant in the prevention and treatment of TB.
Sunita Prasad told about the research works being conducted by Ali-Lily Pvt. Ltd. in the field of treatment of TB.
Programme organiser, the Director of SGRRITS, Dr Preeti Kothiyal, said keeping in mind the mountainous terrain of Uttarakhand, the role of pharmacists was as significant as doctors. She extended her gratitude towards the Chairman of SGRR Education Mission Mahant Devendra Dass Maharaj for the workshop.
