Members of the State Congress Committee yesterday staged a demonstration at the office of the district forest officer against the illegal cutting of trees in the city.
They said trees were being cut in the name of plotting and construction. The protesters demanded a check on the illegal practice and urged the authorities to maintain a record of the number of tress in the city.
Earlier, a delegation of the State Congress Committee met the DFO and submitted a memorandum to him.
Kripal Singh Kohli, Dinesh Koshal, Kishore Uniyal, Sushil Kumar and Sumit Aggrawal were prominent among the protesters.
