Dehradun, May 12

A team of the Special Task Force and the Excise Department held two persons and seized 200 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from them here today.

The IMFL liquor was allegedly smuggled from Punjab and was stored in a house to sell it to local dealers.

Sources said the joint team raided a rented accommodation in Clement Town on a tip-off and arrested Sunny Gandhi and Geeta Saini.

They told the police that they had smuggled different brands of IMFL from Punjab to sell at a much higher cost to local liquor dealers.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Sunny Gandhi was the kingpin. He had been jailed earlier too for smuggling liquor. The house owner is an Army officer. The market value of the seized IMFL was Rs 11 lakh.
