Central School for Tibetans (CST), Happy Valley, Mussoorie, today under the banner of ‘World Substance Abuse Day 2016’ staged various activities to create awareness on menace of substance abuse, under the banner of ‘World substance abuse day 2016’ at school premises here today.

A film based on drug among students’ community ‘Manas’ and few clippings from the recently released controversial film ‘Udta Punjab’ were screened for students and teachers. During morning assembly of the school, speech contest on the ‘Substance abuse’ and its effect on schools was held. Sanjana Raj, Riya Uniyal, Kanishka and Ankita put forth their views in a closely fought contest. Senior students presented a skit named ‘Drug ek meetha jahar’. The presentation was thrilling and memorizing, conveyed a clear message of the consequences of drugs in the lives of students. Dolma Tsomo, Tsering, Tashi, Kunal, Riya, Ayush, Adesh, Naveen and others took part in the skit.

Essay writing contest on ‘Substance abuse and its influence in schools’ and on the spot painting competition was also held. Students also distributed and displayed pamphlets and charts to spread awareness against harmful substances for the society. Student, Gaurav Jadwan started the event by narrating his self composed poem on ‘Drug abuse’.

In speech contest, Ankita of Class XII bagged the first position while second and third spot were bagged by Kanishka and Riya Uniyal. In one-act play, Kunal Bisht bagged the best actor award.

Certificates, trophy and prizes were awarded by the school Principal and rector to the winners and participating students.

Principal Anita Narula and school rector Ngodup Norbu expressed their views by thanking the DOH, CTSA & CTE and congratulated the participating students and teachers for organising such meaningful event.
