Demand to implement plans for differently-abled persons

Under the aegis of Hearing and Speech Impaired Association of Uttarkahand, members of the Dev Bhoomi Badhir Association led by president Sandeep Arora today met Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik, Jwalapur legislator Suresh Rathore, Haridwar Rural legislator Swami Yatishwaranand and Ranipur-BHEL legislator Aadesh Chauhan and apprised them about the difficulties being faced by them.

The delegation members demanded restructuring of the Divyang Ayog in the state. They said it should be headed by non-political differently abled persons.

Arora pointed out that he submitted a 13-point demand letter to the then Chief Minister Harish Rawat, of which four demands were passed by the state cabinet.

The four demands were formation of Divyand Commission, clear the backlog vacancies for the differently abled persons, easy submission of documents for granting of pension and constitution of hearing-speech school in Garhwal and Kumaon division of the state.

The delegation alleged that none of these demands had been implemented properly by the previous government. They urged the Cabinet Minister to apprise Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat about these demands and implement them in letter and spirit. Delegation members apprised Kaushik that the present Divyang Commission consisted of political persons with Congress background.

Madan Kaushik assured the members that he would look into the matter and provide them land for opening up of school and training centre.

Apurva Nautiyal, Atul Rathore, Neha Saini, Sardar Montu, Utkarsh Sharma, Mohammed Takir, Kapil Bhaskar, Ashwani Sharma, Shailesh Gupta, Sonia Arora, Manish Lakhani, Siksha Saini, Sardar PP Singh and Sameer were members of the delegation. They said they expected an early resolution to their issues.
