Chief Minister Harish Rawat today announced that the Congress would contest 2017 Assembly elections on the development plank.
Addressing the monthly meeting of the State Congress Working Committee at the Congress headquarters in Dehradun, Rawat said the development works done would be taken before the people and asserted that he was hopeful that the party would register a resounding success in the polls.
Chief Minister Rawat called upon party leaders to apprise the people about the development schemes undertaken by the Congress government for the benefit of people. Rawat said his government had worked for the betterment of every section of society whether they were from deprived sections, minorities, women or ex-servicemen.
He also asserted that the Centre had tried to destabilise a democratically elected government in Uttarakhand and asked the party leaders also to inform the people about anti-people policies of the Central Government.
Uttarakhand Congress president Kishore Upadhyay informed the gathering about party conventions lined up for August. He said the party organisation would work shoulder to shoulder with the state government to ensure big success to the Congress in 2017 elections.
Upadhyay also disclosed that the Congress would also observe August as the month of information technology. He said training camps would be organised for party workers to make them IT savvy.
Cabinet Minister Pritam Singh, MLAs Navprabhat, Hira Singh Bisht, Rajkumar and Mamta Rakesh, State Congress vice-president Joth Singh Bisht, Shankar Chand Ramola and Suryakant Dhasmana were present at the meeting.
