Doon SSP Datte promises better traffic management

Newly appointed Dehradun SSP Sadanand Datte has assured that every possible step would be taken to find the woman, who had lifted newly born baby girl from a health centre in Premnagar last month.

He said no stone would be left unturned to ensure smooth movement of traffic on arterial roads of the city. He was sharing his future plans with media after assuming charge of the SSP Dehradun.

SSP Datte said the SHOs of police stations were strictly instructed to act swiftly, and to reduce response time in reaching at crime spots. He said the New Zindagi Campaign launched by his predecessor, Pushpak Jyoti to tighten noose around drug peddlers would be continue in the city.

He said the city police would ensure that commercial three wheeled and four wheeled vehicles stop at designated places or at bus stops in order to avoid traffic chaos, especially during busy traffic hours.

The SSP said regular meetings with colleagues and subordinates, surprise inspections would be conducted at police stations and police posts, especially during night hours to maintain law and order in the city.

He said instructions were given to officials to draft plans for traffic regulation in advance, in case political or any other group take rally in order to avoid untoward incidents as well as to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city.

Earlier in the day, SSP Datte along with SP (City) Ajay Singh, and SP (Traffic) Pradeep Rai identified bottlenecks, which are causing traffic snarls in the city.

He removed encroachments at Lansdowne Chowk, Kanak Chowk, Tehsil Chowk, Gandhi Road, Saharanpur Chowk, Prince Chowk, Patelnagar, Niranjanpur Mandi etc. He instructed officialsto ensure thatanti-encroachment drive remained a regular feature in the city.
