The Economic Survey report  for the state  has projected a rosy future for the youth looking for jobs as the government is optimistic that a proposed investment of Rs 25,000 crore in SIDCUL will bring in job opportunities.

Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Minister Prakash Pant had tabled the first report in the House on Wednesday.

The report mentions that the state has around 1,836 industrial units, out of which 1,400 are fully functional and these units are expected to bring in an investment of Rs 25,000 crore which will lead to 1.60 lakh jobs.

Recognising the importance of tourism and its potential to generate jobs, the report has said more need to be done. It has said the sector contributes 13 per cent in the state’s GDP, whereas the budget allocation is only .28 per cent of the total budget.

The report has also pointed out that despite a huge potential in the power sector, the state has been unable to realise its full potential due to environmental concerns and litigation.
