Dehradun, December 10
Winning the most coveted Sword of Honour and bronze medal for standing third in the order of merit is like achieving the hard target. ACA Pratyush Kumar Mohanty said so while interacting with The Tribune after the passing out parade of Indian Military Academy (IMA).
ACA Mohanty said he had worked hard to join the Army. Hailing from Bhubneshwar, Odisha, he passed out from RIMC in 2012 and subsequently joined NDA. He finally passed out from IMA after immaculately performing the duty of parade commander in the passing out parade.
He had worked very hard physically and mentally to perform exceptionally well during his pre-commission training in IMA, Mohanty said.
Son of a farmer, BUO Malla Rama Gopal Naidu won the gold medal in overall order of merit. He had joined Sainik School, Korukonda, Andhra Pradesh, as it was his childhood dream to join elite defence forces. He later joined NDA and IMA.
The recipient of silver medal for standing second in the order of merit is BUO Suyash Gupta was from Chhattisgarh. His father, SK Gupta, felt very proud as Suyash is the first generation of the family to join the Indian Army. Suyash said honour, discipline, adventure, sports, and job security were the reasons that forced him to join the defence forces. His father motivated him a lot since childhood to join the defence forces, Suyash added. — TNS
