Additional Director General (Forest Conservation) Dr SS Negi has asked Uttarakhand revenue authorities to explain the reason behind selection of Raipur site for construction of the new Vidhan Sabha and Secretariat building in Dehradun.
Acting on Union Environment and Forest Ministry’s directions, Additional Director General (Forest Conservation) Dr SS Negi was in Dehradun today to preside over a high-level meeting linked to forest land transfer for construction of the proposed new Vidhan Sabha and Secretariat buildings in Raipur area of Dehradun.
Dr SS Negi visited the Raipur site and took stock of the ground situation. Accompanied by senior state officials, Dr Negi asked the state revenue department authorities to explain the basis behind selection of Raipur and not other places such as Vikasnagar and Thano. Presiding over a high-level meeting on the same issue, Dr Negi asked the state officials to submit a report within a month explaining all the reasons and other details regarding Raipur site selection.
Later, attending another important meeting regarding the pending no-objection certificate for construction of 202 roads in forest areas of Uttarakhand that are pending for long, Dr Negi called for conduct of a fast-track camp beginning June 3 for speedy redressal of these cases. These are Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana, Public Works Department, national highways and other roads.
Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF) and head of regional office of the Union Environment Ministry’s for forest clearance Ajay Kumar, APCCF STS Leptcha and PWD Additional Secretary Amit Negi were among those present at the meeting.
