Finish Ardh Kumbh works by Jan 14: CM

Chief Minister Harish Rawat has set a deadline for the completion of all Ardh Kumbh related works by Makar Sakranti, which falls on January 14, 2016.

He gave stern directives to the Ardh Kumbh mela authorities and other state government departments-nodal agencies involved in infrastructure and other development projects for the fair to complete the work by the set deadline.

For the temporary nature works, the Chief Minister has set December 31 as the deadline. He laid emphasis on adhering to the deadline and said he himself would assess the progress in the first fortnight of December.

He assessed the on-field progress of Ardh Kumbh projects and made it clear that by the first festive bath of Ardh Kumbh, all works should be completed so that the state government and the mela administration focuses on security aspects during the fair.

“This is for the first time that seven bridges are simultaneously being constructed for the Ardh Kumbh fair. The government is funding projects worth Rs 1,000 crore on its own as the Central Government had not sanctioned any grant,” the Chief Minister said.

On the objection by the Teerath Purohit community towards renovation of Sant Ravi Das temple at Har-Ki-Pauri, the Chief Minister said mutual consensus would be arrived from all sides in this regard. He assured of completion of renovation and extension of Malviya Ganga ghat at Har-Ki-Pauri and Kashyap ghat at Rishikul.

OSD Ardh Kumbh mela Purushottam Sharma, District Magistrate Harbans Singh Chugh, SSP Senthil Abudai Krishan Raj, SDM Jeevan Singh Nanigyal, City Magistrate Mohammed Nasir, Mukhya Nagar Adhikari Vipra Trivedi and officials of the department concerned were present on the occasion.
