Discusses water treatment project

Governor KK Paul discussed the project of treating Nihal nullah water to check soil erosion as it touches one corner of the golf course of Raj Bhawan in Nainital today. Paul, at a meeting with the officials concerned, also discussed the conservation of the heritage building of Nainital Raj Bhawan and the work being done to install solar panels.

Officials informed the Governor that the plan for treating the drain water was ready and the work would begin soon using modern techniques like rock bolting.

The Governor said the work to treat the nullah water should be done under the supervision of the THDC. The administration had approved Rs 1.9 crore for the work. The THDC had been given the responsibility considering its expertise in such works.

Discussing the solarisation of Raj Bhawan, the Governor said 16 kw of solar energy was being produced at Raj Bhawan in Dehradun. Efforts would be made to touch the 25 kw mark in two or three months, he said. “Similarly, work on solarisation should begin at Nainital Raj Bhawan,” he said, adding that the project should not affect the beauty and original structure of the historic Raj Bhawan.

Paul also reviewed the conservation work of Raj Bhawan and gave important directions to those who had been carrying out the work.

Present on the occasion were OSD and Secretary to the Governor Arun Dhaundiyal, PWD Chief Engineer, Superintendent Engineer and other officials.
