Dehradun, September 13

State Congress president Pritam Singh yesterday alleged that the authorities concerned wanted to promote land mafia by including new villages in Dehradun Municipal Corporation.

Addressing a press conference here, Pritam Singh said there was no logic behind including a large number of villages under the jurisdiction of Dehradun MC.

‘This is totally unjustified as Dehradun MC has failed to provide basic amenities to the areas under its jurisdiction at present. By including new areas, the MC wants to benefit builders and land mafia at the cost panchayats, he said.

He said the state Congress would launch an agitation against the move. He also claimed that the pradhans of villages, who were against the move, would join the stir.
