The maximum number of critical and vulnerable booths are in Haridwar district.

Out of 556 critical and 412 vulnerable booths in seven districts of Garhwal, 252 critical and 165 vulnerable booths are in Haridwar. As many as 148 vulnerable booths have been identified in Dehradun district. The lowest number of vulnerable (16) and critical (30) booths are in Rudraprayag district.

Uttarkashi has 17 vulnerable and 61 critical booths, while Tehri has 19 vulnerable and 80 critical booths. The Chamoli district has 28 vulnerable and 75 critical booths, while 19 and 58 vulnerable and critical booths, respectively, have been identified in Pauri district.

DIG (Garhwal) Pushpak Jyoti said strict instruction was given to policemen deployed for election duties to act swiftly against those who try to take law in their hands. He said policemen in large numbers would be deployed at critical and vulnerable booths in order to ensure peaceful polling.

He said flying squads and surveillance teams, 123 each, had been formed to check illegal smuggling of liquor, arms and cash transactions.

According to the DIG, 21 each inter-district barriers had been made in Haridwar and Pauri districts of the state while, seven and five each inter-district barriers were made in Dehradun and Tehri, and Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts, respectively.

He said a total of 20 and 10 inter-state barriers were made in Haridwar and Dehradun districts, respectively. “Seven districts of the Garhwal have been divided into 786 sectors to maintain law and order across the state during polling,” he added.
