On the last day of election campaign, a roadshow was taken out by BJP candidate Madan Kaushik here today.

From the Arya Nagar square, the roadshow passed through Shankar Ashram square, Chandracharya square, Rishikul square, Maharaja Agrasen square-Devpura, Shiv Moorti square, Upper road and finally concluded at the sanctum sanctorum of Braham Kund, Har-Ki-Pauri.

Addressing a gathering at various points, three-time legislator Madan Kaushik assured the public of providing better infrastructure and civic amenities in the city to make it a model city.

Urging voters to bring the BJP to power with majority in the state, Kaushik said as there was BJP government at the Centre, better coordination and implementation of development schemes could be carried out in the state.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his last week rally on the Rishikul ground, had assured people of making Uttarakhand a leading state, if BJP also comes into power in the state. Central assistance and projects were hindered or not implemented properly by Congress-led Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s government. But if the BJP comes to power, the halted or pending projects would be given a finishing touch. Time has come to herald a new development era in the state by bringing our party into power,” said Kaushik.

Mayor Manoj Garg highlighted several development projects carried out by Kaushik in the past 15 years and assured people of similar development spree in the next five years if he got elected for the record fourth term.

Assembly election party in-charge Vikas Tiwari said the Congress had ignored Haridwar as during the last general election, Congress candidate Renuka Rawat, who is the wife of Chief Minister Harish Rawat, had lost to BJP candidate Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank by a record 1.78 lakh votes.

“No major development work or project has been sanctioned by the Congress-led government in past two-and-a-half years since Harish Rawat became Chief Minister. Even during his tenure as Haridwar MP and Union Minister for Water Resources, no major project was sanctioned,”said Tiwari.

Party workers accompanied and welcomed the roadshow.
