Haridwar, March 31
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is doing a commendable job in providing security to lakhs of passengers. Chief Minister Harish Rawat said this while addressing the inaugural session of a two-day convention of the All India Railway Protection Force Union here today.
He lauded the working of railway security personnel and said it was necessary to provide better facilities at railway stations, and coaches and properly equip railway security personnel.
On the sidelines of the convention, Harish Rawat exuded confidence that Congress candidate Mamta Rakesh would win the Bhagwanpur Assembly byelection next month.
The Chief Minister said the state government was quite serious about action against illegal quarrying. He added quarrying was justified but it should be done within stipulated administrative and environmental norms. “We are planning a quarrying policy, which takes care of all aspects.
On the one hand, quarrying is imperative, on the other illegal quarrying is affecting the environment and the Ganga,” he said.
