After winter break, all is set for the opening of Sikh shrine of Hemkund Sahib in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Around 5,000 pilgrims are expected to witness the opening of the portals of Hemkund slated to take place at 10 am on Friday morning. Over two feet of snow still exists in the region.
A batch of pilgrims numbering 2,000 led by Panj Pyaras left for Hemkund shrine from Govindghat in the morning.
Hemkund Sahib Management Trust will honour Sub Major Gurnaam Singh for his services in aid of pilgrims. The day will also see the opening of Lokpal temple.
