Indira recognised Kalam’s genuine brilliance: CM

DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Harish Rawat and Uttarakhand Congress president Kishore Upadhaya paid rich tributes to former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam at a condolence ceremony held at Rajeev Bhavan here today.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat and Uttarakhand Congress president Kishore Upadhaya paid rich tributes to former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam at a condolence ceremony held at Rajeev Bhavan here today. The party leaders and activists vowed to follow in Kalam’s footsteps.

The Chief Minister said Kalam was an eminent scientist who had contributed immensely towards the missile programme of the country. Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had appointed Kalam as the Director of Airspace Technology and Missile Programme when he was only 30 years old. He was known for his love towards children, and always motivated them to perform better in their lives, he added.

Cabinet ministers Preetam Singh, Indira Hridayesh, Dinesh Aggarwal, SS Negi, and MLAs Rajkumar, Umesh Kumar, Sarita Arya and others were present at the condolence meeting. At another condolence meeting held at BJP state office, Uttarakhand BJP president Teerath Singh Rawat said Kalam was known for his dedication towards work. The country attained self sufficiency in the field of missile techonolgy under Kalma’s leadership. Party activists said Kalam would remain a source of inspiration for young scientists of the country.

Former Union minister Satpal Maharaj, Prakash Suman Dhyani, SR Nautiyal, Naresh Bansal, and Umesh Agarwal attended the meeting.

CPM activists expressed deep sorrow over Kalam’s death. They recalled Kalam had played a pivotal role in the development of the nuclear technology. They said he tirelessly motivated youths of the country to have a vision in order to achieve success in ones life as he had unassailable faith in youths that they could scale new heights in the field of scientific and technological advances.

The CPM activists said Kalam was honoured with Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Bharat Ratna. Rajendra Singh Negi, Rajendra Purohit, Virendr Bhandari, SS Sajwan, Indu Naudiyal, Anant Akash, and Daljit Singh paid tributes. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) activists, including Ranveer, Sameer, Sunita Singh, and Kamal, paid tributes to the missile man at the party office here.
