Dehradun, March 22

Leader of the Opposition Indira Hridayesh on Thursday termed the budget tabled by the BJP government as visionless and directionless. “The TS government has failed to list the ways in which it will generate revenue and has repeated the schemes announced last year or the Central government-funded schemes,” said Hridayesh, while giving her reactions on the budget.

She further said that the government had failed to tell the people from where would it generate revenue.

Congress MLA Manoj Rawat also castigated the government for failing to suggest ways for generating new resources. “They have failed to meet revenue targets during the last fiscal through mining which happens to be the greatest revenue earner”, he said.

On the other hand, Chief Minister TS Rawat said that for the first time the budget had offered something for everybody. “Before preparing the budget, I held several interactions with the people of our state and they came up with suggestions which were incorporated in the budget,” he said.

He lauded the Finance Minister for presenting a balanced budget. “For the first time we have said that the government will set aside certain amount for making the public buildings accessible to the differently abled persons. We have made allocation of Rs 45 crore for destination for encouraging tourism in the state,” said he.
