Lathicharge resented

Resenting lathicharge on villagers in Gairsain, state agitationists in capital Dehradun on Friday staged a demonstration at Clock Tower.

State agitationists led by Uttarakhand Mahila Manch gathered at Clock Tower and staged a demonstration causing a traffic jam on the Rajpur road, the main arterial road of the city. 

The demonstrators alleged that using force against villagers, who were staging a peaceful protest in Gairsain, was a condemnable incident. They said there was nothing wrong in seeking a permanent capital status for Garisain. This was the sentiment of a majority of people of the state. The demonstrators at Dehradun also had minor skirmishes with the police. — TNS
