Leopard run over by train in Haldwani

DEHRADUN:While a leopard was run over by a train in the Haldwani region of Kumaon, another leopard that got entangled in wires was rescued in the Rudraprayag district of Garhwal Division.

While a leopard was run over by a train in the Haldwani region of Kumaon, another leopard that got entangled in wires was rescued in the Rudraprayag district of Garhwal Division.

In Jakholi tehsil of Rudraprayag, a leopard got entangled in a wire fixed to a tree by villagers for drying clothes. On getting to know of the incident, a team of the Forest Department reached the site of incident and tranquilised the leopard following which it was separated from the wires. It took more than four hours for forest officials to rescue the leopard and ultimately cage it.

In another incident in the Haldwani region of Kumaon Division, a leopard was run over by a train, when it was trying to cross the railway track in the Cantt area of Haldwani. The carcass of the leopard was later identified as that of a three-year-old female. A post-mortem was also conducted in presence of the forest officials.
