Lucky Ali, KK, Zubin Nautiyal to perform in winterline carnival

MUSSOORIE: Chief Minister Harish Rawat will inaugurate the second winterline carnival being organised on the Municipal Council premises in Mussoorie from December 25.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat will inaugurate the second winterline carnival being organised on the Municipal Council premises in Mussoorie from December 25. Popular singers such as Lucky Ali, KK and Zubin Nautiyal will perform.

Chandresh Yadav, District Magistrate, Dehradun, stated this during a press briefing at his office last evening. He also spelt the itinerary of the carnival in detail.

He said the winterline carnival was being organised with an objective to promote tourism and provide a platform to young artistes from the region. Tourists would get an opportunity to listen to and watch their favourite artistes from around the country perform daily till December 30, he added.

The District Magistrate said the Chief Minister would inaugurate the carnival on December 25, followed by a performance by popular singer from Mumbai Lucky Ali. On December 27, comedian Khayali would perform while classical dancer Arushi Pokhriyal would present Kathak dance on December 28. Bhojpuri dances would also be presented for the pleasure of tourists from Uttar Pradesh on Decmber 28.

The tourists would also get an opportunity to watch models walk on the ramp during a fashion show on December 29.

Singer Zubin Nauitiyal, who shot to fame for his songs in ‘Shaukeen’, would be performing along with another Bollywood singer KK. A handloom exhibition, sports phot exhibition and a contest would also be part of the carnival, he said.

The District Magistrate added the objective of organising the carnival was to promote tourism in the state and provide employment in the process. President of the Uttarakhand Hotel Association Sandeep Sahni said the theme of the carnival was winterline, the natural phenomena that is visible only in the winter over the skyline in Dehradun every year.

Ganesh Joshi, MLA, Mussoorie, who is also the vice-president of the carnival committee, said it would help in promoting tourism and generating employment for locals.

Municipal Council president Manmohan Singh Mall said another objective of the carnival was to present a positive image of the state that had been dented due to the natural disaster last year.
