Ravindra Singh Anand, chairman of the Mandi Samiti, has said farmers will seek better compensation from Chief Minister Harish Rawat for their crops damaged due to unseasonal rain and snowfall.
He told mediapersons here yesterday that the Chief Minister had agreed to inaugurate a three-day agriculture fete beginning on the Mandi Samiti premises on April 25.
Anand said State Meteorological Centre officials would update farmers on weather forecast while agriculture scientists and experts would reply to their queries on agriculture-related issues. He added farmers would be made aware about the latest agricultural equipment and seeds available in the market for improving productivity.
Anand said officials from the departments of horticulture, agriculture, pisciculture, sericulture, animal husbandry, Dairy Development Board, tea board, and beekeeping would address farmers at the festival.
