Dehradun, October 8
Hamara Uttarkhand Jan Manch’s (HUM) patron Anoop Nautiyal will contest the forthcoming Assembly elections from Dehradun Cantt constituency as an independent candidate.
He made the announcement at a press conference here today.
Nautiyal said he would contest the poll on the issue of governance. Uttarakhand today was neck deep in corruption and the incumbent state government was only further patronising the same.
Referring to Dehradun city, he said the civic amenities were in total disarray. There were numerous potholes on roads and availability of both potable water and power was not up to the mark, Nautiyal lamented.
HUM’s president Ranveer Chowdhary said taking into account Nautiayal’s past record of rendering social service to the residents of Dehradun Cantt region, HUM had decided to field him.
Nautiyal was also a resident of Dehradun Assembly constituency and thus was the most appropriate person to contest from the seat, Chowdhary said.
The party had also identified eight to nine other Assembly seats from where it would be pitting candidates, he added.
HUM leader Omkar Bhatia was also present at the news conference.
