Haridwar, August 28
Chief Minister Harish Rawat today criticised former Pauri Garhwal MP and BJP leader Satpal Maharaj and Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhiryal Nishank for misleading people on the Haridwar-based Nirmal Virakt Kutiya ashram property issue.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha function at the Rajput dharamshala at Kankhal here. Rawat said both BJP leaders levelled baseless charges against him on the Nirmal Kutiya issue. The BJP leaders seemed to be in a hurry or maybe in panic to criticise the Congress-led government on every front as the Assembly elections were nearing.
“We will again form the government in the state. We have executed mass development works even without proper assistance from the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre in the past two years. In fact, the BJP should first explain the corrupt deeds and illegal occupation of public properties by its leaders,” said Rawat. Earlier, the Kshatriya community representatives felicitated the Chief Minister.
He said whenever the mention of Kshatriya community occurs, one thinks of bravery, honesty and Prithvi Raj Chauhan. He urged people to live in harmony and brotherhood. He said Uttarakhand is an ideal example of secularism and communal harmony. Char Dham, Hemkund Sahib, Piran Kaliyar and the Ganga are the glorious example of communal harmony in the state, he added.
Rawat said the government was committed to overall development of the people.
