Omkar Singh, an IFS officer of 1982 batch, has joined as the new Director of Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Dehradun.
He was serving as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force and Principal Secretary (Environment and Forest) in Arunachal Pradesh before assuming the charge of the Director of the IGNFA.
Known for his expertise in Wildlife Management, Omkar Singh has authored many scientific papers. He earlier worked as Deputy Director-General in Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Director of Directorate of Forestry Education and Head of Extension Division at Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. He also worked as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs. — TNS
