People brave rain and cold in Haridwar to witness parade

HARIDWAR: Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour in the pilgrim city. Early morning rain and cold weather conditions could not dampen the enthusiasm of the people, particularly school students, who took part in Republic Day functions at their respective schools and BHEL main stadium.

Haridwar, January 27

Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour in the pilgrim city.

Early morning rain and cold weather conditions could not dampen the enthusiasm of the people, particularly school students, who took part in Republic Day functions at their respective schools and BHEL main stadium.

Amidst chanting of Vedic hymns the Indian Tricolour was hoisted at Gayatri Teerth Shantikunj by spiritual ideologue of Shantikunj Dr Pranav Pandya.

At educational wing of Shantikunj Gayatri Vidyapeeth, Gauri Shankar Sharma performed the flag hoisting ceremony. Dr Pandya in his address at Mrityunjay auditorium pointed the hard life being led by soldiers in border areas, due to which “we citizens are able to live freely”.

Cultural programmes that showcased patriotic fervour, themes and struggles of the country prior to having its own Constitution were showcased by students.

Vande Matram was presented with a strong current of patriotism.An all-women band showed that they were in no way less in comparison to their counterparts. Former judge Satya Narayan Pandya along with hundreds of Shantikunj volunteers and devotees were present at the Republic Day programme.

At the collectorate District Magistrate Harish Chand Semwal hoisted the flag in the presence of Chief Development Officer Ranjana, ADM Ravneet Cheema, Jeevan Singh Nangiyal, Joint Magistrate Mangesh Ghildiyal, Mayur Dixit.

At Patanjali Yogpeeth , Swami Ramdev along with Patanjali Ayurvedic University Vice Chancellor Acharya Balkrishan hoisted the Indian Tricolour. Swami Ramdev said the NDA government at the Centre was doing a commendable job in eradicating corruption.

Central Industrial Police Force personnel carried out a marchpast, which was followed by a spree of cultural items by school students of Delhi Public School,BHEL Bal Mandir and Vidya Mandir, Kendriya Vidyalya.

BHEL Mazdoor Kalyan Parishad Ranipur president Sahdev Singh Chetri hoisted the flag at Sector-3, Ranipur office. Working president Rakesh Kumar Chauhan, general secretary Rajbeer Singh, Deep Chand, Inder Mohan Barthwal, Manjur Khan, Sukarm Pal Singh, senior vice president Deep Chand put forth their views on the significance of the day.

Vice Chancellor, Gurukul Kangri University, Surendra Kumar cited contribution of Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Subas Chander Bose, and Gobind B Pant.
