The Uttarakhand Congress Committee today expelled eight office-bearers of the Dehradun District Congress Committee, who were indulged in vandalism at the state party headquarters on Sunday. They were protesting the allotment of party ticket to state party chief Kishore Upadhyay from Sahaspur.

The expelled leaders are supporters of Congress leader Aryaendra Sharma, who was seeking ticket from Sahaspur. However, the party high command decided to give party ticket to Upadhyay.

Meanwhile, supporters of Aryaendra Sharma staged a protest at the Congress Bhawan even today. The protesters alleged that it was a conspiracy against Sharma, who had fought the last election unsuccessfully from the Sahaspur seat.

On the other hand, Upadhyay supporters from Tehri also staged a dharna at the Congress Bhawan and demanded the party ticket to the state Congress chief from Tehri. Upadhyay had lost the 2012 election from the Tehri seat, which he represented in 2002 and 2007.
