Block Development Committee (BDC) members of Bageshwar block in Bageshwar district have resented discontinuity in electricity supply to over two dozen villagers even after 15 days of heavy snowfall.

The snowfall left electricity lines of these villages damaged on December 14 this year. “Small industries depending on electricity for their operation have closed in these villages,” said Kamal Aithani, a member of BDC Bageshwar, at the meeting.

The BDC members of Bageshwar block development committee who met today at the Block Hall resented the bad condition of health and education facilities being provided to these villages. They passed a resolution demanding appointment of teachers in educational institutes in the villages. They called for availability of doctors and staff concerned at the primary health centres and sub-centres spread in the block villages.

“We have instructed officers from these departments to get the work done before the last day this year and free these villages of these problems,” said Sangeeta Arya, Block Pramukh of Bageshwar block.

The BDC meeting approved the proposals from the block for these to be included in the district plan, subsidiary work plan for MNREGA for the block and work plan of the block to be financed by the 13th Finance Commission.
